ISG’s Wynyard Data Centre is a groundbreaking building that sought from the outset to use fresh air cooling to minimise energy consumption and reduce the carbon footprint. Sustainability was an integral part of the whole project ethos, saving 573 tonnes of CO2 a year (and a further 688 tonnes during construction) and diverting 96% of waste away from landfill. To convey these impressive statistics in a more visually impactful way, Virtual Viewing developed a 12 minute video sequence, incorporating both time-lapse video footage of the construction process and a complete 3d flythrough of the cooling and energy saving systems that are an integral part of the new data centre, showing both the enormous scale of the undertaking and the ingenuity of the solution that was evolved. The result – a stunned audience! (And one not only hugely impressed by the intelligence and the outcomes of ISG’s Data Centre Project, but also wowed by the use of 3d technology in demonstrating it to them.)
